THE Basingstoke Bison have made a double swoop this week, with the re-signing of forward Paul Petts and the signing of defenceman Ollie Stone from Milton Keynes Thunder.

Petts, a product of the Bison junior programme is back for a third season with the Herd and last term, the 22-year-old born in Gosport had his best year yet in a Bison shirt returning 10 points scoring four times.

Bison player/coach Ashley Tait said: “Paul is aware of his role on the team and the opportunity is there for him to earn some ice time and certainly did well when he came into the line-up last season when we had injuries.”

Stone is new to the Herd and is a former Great Britain under-20 international and the Swindon-born blue liner spent all his career with the Wiltshire team, until last term when he signed for the Milton Keynes.

The 20-year-old returned seven points scoring once for the Thunder and picked up 20 minutes in penalties.

He made his Swindon senior debut in season 2015/16 and Tait is very pleased with this latest at addition to the blue line and said: “He skates well, moves the puck well and I expect him to be pushing out top D men.”
