HARTLEY Wintney moved up to third spot in the Southern League Division Two, after a four wicket win at South Wilts II.

The home side were put into bat and Jamie Teale (4-22) was soon in the thick of the action removing both openers Owain Phillips (9) and Tom Berzins (4).

Fellow opening bowler Anthony Parson joined in the fun with 3-27 as he continued his great run of form.

He removed the next two batsmen Tom Cowley (7) and Tom Pearce (0) as the home side struggled to 26-6.

Joint top scorer Sam Arnold (27) and skipper Rob Pittman (10) added 23 for the fifth wicket, before Parson struck again.

Ben Hurley (30 and Stephen Booth (3) did not last long as South Wilts slumped to 61-7.

Jason Knibbs (2-30) and Roy Cockram (1-17) kept the pressure up.

An excellent unbeaten 27 not out from Sam Pittman and 13 from James Wade helped the home side to 118 all out, as Teale returned to claim two more wickets.

James Wade (2-26) made sure the Hartley reply did not start well, as Will Kerr (9) and Indy Chakrabati (0) were back in the pavilion with only 13 scored.

Jason Knibbs and Hugo Hammond (13) added 34 for the third wicket and then Teale departed first ball being bowled, the second of two quick wickets for Tom Pearce (2-17).

Roy Cockram (28) and Knibbs then put on 45 for the fifth wicket, before Cockram was trapped leg before by Cowley (2-21) his first of two wickets.

James Beckwith helped the score to 110, before he was out.

It was left to opener Knibbs (34 not out) who anchored the innings brilliantly and Parson to see Hartley over the line with 19 overs and four wickets in hand.

This Saturday, Hartley are at home to Fair Oak.
