The Basingstoke fishing fraternity lost one of its all time greats when Brian Orchard sadly passed away this week after a short illness. His cheerful demeanour brightened up the most dour of fishing matches and his greeting of "hello me old mate" ensured everybody knew he was around.

At such short notice I cannot do Brian justice as to his achievements in match angling I will write a full eulogy in next weeks column. Brian's funeral is Friday 14 June at 1.15p.m. at Basingstoke Crematorium. All anglers who knew him are welcome.

Catch me next week.
