WINKLEBURY Junior School athletes have had a fantastic season with the Sports Hall Athletics Team coming second in Basingstoke and qualifying for the Hampshire School’s Finals.

The finals were held at Places Leisure, in Eastleigh and Winklebury finished 13th.

Each athlete completes a throwing event, a jumping event, a sprint race and a relay race.

The team of Khia, Amber, Abilash, Isobel, Charlie, Ellis, Philip, Brooke, Rhys, Kian, Sasha and Amelia are pictured below.

The Quad Kids Athletics Team also did really well coming fourth in Basingstoke. Philip was the top performer coming first individually and Amelia was the top Winklebury girl coming sixth. Ellis, Charlie, Rhys, Nancy, Sasha and Brooke all achieved personal bests in three out of the four events.

The tag rugby teams have all been busy too with a girls tournament in March for Year 3/4 and a Year 5/6.

Lots of tries were scored and the teams all worked so well together showing our school values of teamwork, perseverance, respect, empathy and most definitely pride. Captains Ellis, Kit, Oliver and Isobel did a fantastic job and they finished third in the league .

Team Winklebury are delighted that their Year 3 and 4 gymnastics team will be representing Basingstoke at the Hampshire Schools Games at the Aldershot Garrison in June.

William, Louie, Hasith, Kerem, Ollie, Jacob, Scarlett, Francesca, Aimee, Nicole, Abigail and captain Nisha are all coming into school two mornings a week to practice leading up to the games.
