NEW boy, Elliot Hennessey, was the star of the show as Oakley got off to a great start to the season with a deserved seven wicket victory over neighbours Overton, writes BOB LETHABY.

In the battle between the newly promoted sides in Hampshire League County Division Three North.

The Oaks put Overton in to bat and they started well and their excellent talisman, Sam Miller, started to find his groove with some lusty blows.

He was dismissed for 36, when Mike Tiley took a smart low catch off the bowling the excellent Brad Compton-Bearne.

Thereafter the game became a little patchy, Lewis scored a resilient 41 as they scored 200-8.

Wickets went to Brad-Compton Bearne (2-13) Will 1-18) Dan Sumner (2-40) Rob Wood (2-48) and Hennessey (1-15).

The Oaks opened with Dan Sumner (38) and Elliot Hennessey and were soon motoring along. After this Hennessey kept going as he finished with a debut ton finishing unbeaten on 104.
