TWO players Grant Kelly and Des Angell of Tadley Statin Strollers Walking Football Club will be taking part in trials for the Over 50’s South East Squad this weekend at Chelmsford.

They will be up against players from across the south and this the next step towards eventually being picked for England.

Both players are based in Winklebury and are looking forward to the weekend and also enjoy walking football and encourage others to get involved.

Kelly (above left) said: " I’ve been playing walking football for over a year and started it to keep fit. My aim and key focus is to eventually play for England."

The 51 year-old added: "I would definitely encourage more people to play not just for the football but for the fitness enjoyment and meeting others and engaging in the social side of the club, such as days out and quiz nights.

Angell (above right) said: "I have been playing for nearly three years and I am also on the committee for the football club.

"I started playing because I love football both watching and playing.

"I used to play in the Sunday league when I was younger and it keeps me fit and active.

The 52 year-old added: "I also love the social side of the club we have a good laugh at the game.

"I would encourage anyone who loves football to try it no matter what your age or skill level over 50 obviously as we have a very broad range of ages and talent."

If you are interested in joining the Tadley Statin Strollers both men and women, the team have a facebook page and they play at the Vyne School every Monday 7pm to 9pm on their new 4G pitch.

It is £5 per session with the first session being free.
