NORTH Warnborough under-16 Knights completed an amazing double winning season, writes IAN DANIELL.

Having gone unbeaten in the Surrey Primary Premier Elite league they the won the league cup 4-0 against Burpham Juniors at Abbey Rangers’ ground.

In the cup final, it was a game of two halves literally.

In the opening session the Knights started with a 3-4-3 formation and dominated.

However, they could not convert their chances due to Burpham’s solid well set defensive line up and their goalkeeper being in excellent form

After the interval, Knights came out a different side lining up as a 3-5-2 thus overloading the midfield and using two wide players. This was the catalyst to the chances coming.

Adam Poynter with some trickery passed into Billy Breau who beat their defender and goalkeeper to the ball with a toe poke past the keeper for a 1-0 lead.

The second goal was not far behind with Billy Breau this time returning the favour setting up Adam who lobbed the keeper exquisitely.

Loads more chances were created but the Burpham goalkeeper was on fire.

Adam Poynter again turned a couple of the Burpham players inside and out twice and laid a ball back for a passed shot into the goal by Ben Daniell.

Knights were playing with a smile on their faces and Burpham were getting a little agitated.

So Ben Russill finished them off with a great volley with the last kick of the match.

Man of the match went to Malachi Young and was well deserved after all his work rate and tenacity.

This topped off a great league and cup double for a side coached by Ian Daniell and managed by Tommy Ashby. Going one better than last year with a completely unbeaten season in the league and cup.
