CALLING all pool players in the Basingstoke area who would like to play former snooker ace Stephen Lee in June then get yourselves down to the Academy Club this Sunday.

The challenge game with world number four Lee will be part of a Festival of Pool at the same venue on June 16 and steamed live over the internet.

To have a chance of playing the snooker ace you need to register between 11.30am and 12.30pm on Sunday.

Play starts at 1pm and there is a £10 entry fee and the event is open to everyone and there will be a handicap system in operation for the event.

The Festival of Pool in June is also open to all players and will see a number of tournaments including singles, doubles and teams of three.

The festival is the brainchild of Basingstoke’s Gary Taylor and the former England pool player is keen for as many players to get involved as possible.

The event which will run from June 14 to 16 and Taylor said: “It was always something I wanted to do and we have managed to get a number of sponsors so will stream the events live on the internet on Saturday and Sunday.”
