THE Basingstoke and District Sunday League Division One match between Chineham and the revitalised Brookvale United side was goalless at the interval and the sides evenly matched 35 minutes into the second half.

The deadlock was broken after 80 minutes when 'Vale's Sam Mosdell headed an own goal past his goalkeeper Brodie Good.

This was unfortunate as Mosdell played a fantastic match in his new position as sweeper.

The game should have finished as a draw, purely on the balance of play, but the second goal which confirmed the win came when goalkeeper Good dropped a shot at the feet of the striker to tap home the loose rebound.

Just before this the 'Vale goalkeeper had made a terrific point blank save from a half volley.

It could have been a different result for Brookvale if Adam Aimable had not had a goal-bound shot well blocked at 1-0.

The visitors' best chance came before half time when Scott Nelson found man of the match Sam Thrower unmarked from a free-kick but the defensive midfielder could only direct his header straight at the goalkeeper.

Chineham won 2-0 to complete a league double.

Division One leaders Bramley United put one hand on the trophy in beating North Warnborough by nine goals without reply, now need just a point from their last remaining game to secure the championship.

The score was 4-0 to the hosts at the break.

Goalscorers were Stuart Leddy (4), Colin Bell, Les Wood, Tim Barnett, Luke Harris and substitute Ben Squibb tallying the rest.

Republic of Chineham are still chasing the long shadow of Bramley and cannot afford to drop a point in their remaining games. They beat hosts Soldiers Return 3-6 despite home side strikes from Jaime Galpin and a Craig Williamson brace.

Tadley Tigers lost the Andover Presidents Cup final 2-0 in a tight game against FC Wildebeest, who are still unbeaten in their league.

In Division Two a Callum Wilcox brace helped AFC Basing to a 2-1 victory over Chineham Reserves.

AFC Laarsens restored their winning ways with a 3-1 victory over Kempshott.

Goals came from Myles Englefield and a brace from Dan Bloma.

Bloma also scored in the midweek draw with Chineham Cavaliers.
