A RECORD number of Wessex Wyvern took part in the British Schools’ Modern Biathlon Championships at Crystal Palace.
This was the culmination of several qualifying events back last autumn and the top 100 children in each age group were called up to compete for the title.
The girls competed on the Saturday and they had 18 qualifiers and Libby Gordon was the club's most successful female, coming 11th in the under-15s. The other qualifiers and their age groups were as follows under-nine: Amelia Carter, Harper Warmerdam, Phoebe Fisher and Amelie Smith. Under-10: Alexis Hornsby, Martha Moore, Ciara Caiger-Watson and Chloe Greenwood. Under-11: Lily-Mae Lancaster and Darcy Warmerdam. Under-12: India Warmerdam, Immi Edwards and Clemence Wyatt. Under-13: Ella Baghurst and Libby Smith. Under-14:Isabelle Law and India Farrant On Sunday, the boys to compete and they had seven qualifiers: under-nine: Zach Callinan and Ollie Thurston. Under-10: Archie Parker. Under-11: Michael Byrne.
Charlie Coveney was the top male, coming second at under-12 while at under-16, his brother Cameron Coveney was fourth and Rhys Price came 15th.
