THE monthly family chess morning will take place on Saturday March 23 at the Discovery Centre from 10.30am to 12.30pm.
All are welcome from international master to beginner.
The Delancey Qualifying competition at Basingstoke Chess Club saw a large number of the club juniors gain the required number of points.
This enables them to participate in the Hampshire Schools Mega-Finals being held at Winchester in late April.
The competition itself produced a four way tie at the top and the joint winners were Jenna Fyfe, Jay Negargar, Sid Dixit and brother Vir Dixit.
All four of them achieved 18 points.
Sid Dixit is aged just six and attends Old Basing School and this was his first entry into a competition.
Basingstoke Chess Club meets every Wednesday from 7pm at the Bridge and Chess Club in Sherborne Road.
The Junior Chess Club meets most Saturdays from 10.30am to 12.30pm.
