KARATE kid Sibi Kumara dominated 2018 as he came in the top three in all the competitions he competed in, winning 16 medals at 10 events overall.

The 15-year-old had a superb WIKF European Championships in Portugal losing just once in nine fights.

The teenager from Tadley said: “It is so amazing and I am so happy to win this award. I think the domination helps me as it puts fear into my opponents.

“I am now moving up to the 16-17 age group and my aim this year is to make the World Championships.”

He will not have to travel far as they are in Crawley.

Last year’s winner archer Jacob Caine just failed to hit the bullseye this time, coming runner-up, but still had a successful 2018 which saw him represent Great Britain in Roveretto, Italy, at the European Youth Cup and winning silver in the Cadet Team event.

Old Basing brothers Charlie and Cameron Coveney were joint third - the pair excel in modern triathlone and biathlon. Both competed for Great Britain in Germany at the 2018 European Triathle/Biathle Championships.
