LIZ Ferioli-Brown moved up from third last year to take the Senior Ladies title.

The 42-year-old from Ringwood trains with the Basingstoke Kickboxing Organisation and was delighted to win the award.

In 2018 after 12 years of hard training she reached her goal of being ranked number one in the world at the Ladies Vets +65kg Light contact category.

Liz won gold and silver medals at the Hungarian World Cup in Budapest and enjoyed double success on the domestic scene at the WAKO British Championships.

She is currently taking a break from competition with the pending birth of her first child, but is determined to be back in training as soon as possible.

She joked: “I am passed my due day so I am holding it for this evening, but in four weeks time I hope to be back training.

“I have a goal to aim for as I have been asked to represent Great Britain in November in Turkey.

She said: “I hope I can inspire others as so many women think they have to stop their sport and have children.”

Basingstoke and Mid Hants sprinter Mair Edwards took second place in this category having won a bronze medal in the World Juniors as part of the 4x100m relay team.

She was unable to pick up awards as she was in America as she has a full scholarship to study and compete for Eastern Michigan University.

Third place went to Olympic hopeful fencer Leonora Mackinnon, who later this year is competing in the PanAmerica Games hoping to book her place to her second Olympics in Tokyo in 2020.
