BASINGSTOKE Gymnastic Club regained the Club of the Year title it last won in 2015 and previous to that in 2013.

The club is designed for people of all ages and levels of ability which is something bosses are very proud of.

Last year its gymnasts enjoyed their biggest medal haul across all gymnastics disciplines to date producing regional, national and international medallists.

Being a charity means the club is always looking for funding opportunities to help with potential new projects and equipment.

But in 2018, the club became dedicated to supporting other charities as well such as Breast Cancer Research and Children in Need.

The club is a regular work experience venue for young students and also supports the community by offering free vouchers, gymnastics in schools sessions and employment opportunities for people as young as 14-years-old.

Anne Bidmead one of the coaches at the club, said: “We are really chuffed to win as everyone works so hard - we have around 1,800 to 2,000 kids a week.

“We cater for everyone right up to international gymnasts and have an incredible set of coaches.

“We are a club for the community and I don’t think it would be right if we did not take the ordinary children off the street. It is not all about winning medals, it is achieving what you want to be and we will continue to reach out to the community.”
