ENGLAND international Lou Grainger is hoping to help her country retain their world crown, but she needs your help.

The Old Basing Infant School teacher has been selected to play in the Indoor Netball World Championships being held in Cape Town this August, but as the sport is not funded she needs to raise £4,000 to take her place on the team.

Grainger was part of the winning England team which won the crown in New Zealand in 2016 and wants to help them to retain their title in South Africa later his year.

Indoor netball or nets is a fast and non stop game and the obvious difference is it is played within an enclosed high tension cage.

Grainger’s dreams of representing England again this year, looked to have dashed in 2017 when she suffered an horrific injury to her wrist while playing nets.

The teacher had to have an operation where a plate and pins were inserted, as well as a carpal tunnel decompression so she could move her fingers again.

A long road to recovery followed and all the hard work has paid off with selection again for the England team.

Grainger said: “It is always an honour to play for your England and that goal kept me focussed during my recovery.

“Last time was the first time England had won the sevens nets crown and this time we are going for the doubles at both sixes and sevens.”
