BASINGSTOKE hockey men's first team won 2-1 against visiting Epsom.

The home side's goals came from Dean Record and Will Jewkes, and player of the match going to Grant Rouse.

The men's seconds lost 3-0 against City of Portsmouth, while the thirds beat Chichester 2-1 to go top of the table.

The fourths beat Salisbury seconds 2-0 with player of the match Kyle McFee, scoring both goals. In their game this week.

The men’s fifths drew 2-2 against Camberley, with Basingstoke's goals coming from Elliot Boyd and Nick Horsley.

Unfortunately, in their home game against Alton, the sixths lost 3-0.

The under 12 boys took an early lead against Fleet and Ewshot thanks to a well-placed shot from William Hazlewood that found the back of the net.

Unfortunately, Basingstoke were not able to capitalise on the lead and ended up conceding a goal. The game ended 1-1. A valiant effort from the whole team.

Basingstoke Ladies 1s sponsored by KJ Smith solicitors faced tough opposition this week in the form of Spencer.

Both teams started well, with great attacking play.

Basingstoke took the initial lead through a penalty corner strike with captain Catriona Bausor expertly dispatching her flick into the net to open the scoring.

Spencer were down, but not out, applying a lot of pressure on Basingstoke. Their hard work paid off with an equaliser just before half time.

In the second half Spencer committed large numbers in attack but Basingstoke worked hard to match them in defence with goalkeeper Gemma Carswell earning her player of the match award with a number of cracking saves.

It was Basingstoke who broke the deadlock with Roxy O’Dea’s excellent penalty corner strike. Three minutes later the first extended their lead through another penalty corner, this time Catriona Bausor scoring from close range.

With only five minutes left to play, Spencer couldn’t get back in the game, with Basingstoke protecting their 3-1 lead till the final whistle.

Amy Rowe had a fantastic start scoring a hat-trick in the first seven minutes in the ladies fourths match against Petersfield.

The 4s played extremely well, using the full pitch with good solid passing, resulting in three additional goals from the ladies 4s.

Rowe scored her fourth goal, and Ellie Rixon the fourths fifth goal, and Ulrike Maier scoring the finishing goal to secure the 6-0 win.

Player of the match went to Helen Garrett-Lang for her solid defending skills.

The under 16 girls lost 6-4 against Fleet and Ewshot, with the girls playing well in the first half but unfortunately running out of steam in second half.

Jasmine Payne scored three goals, Ellie Rixon scored one, and player of the match went to Jess Pritchard.

The under 12 girls won 3-1 against Haslemere.

Basingstoke's mixed team lost 6-3 away to Reading. Goal scorers were, Roxy O'Dea, Catriona Bousor, and Steph Hazell.

Basingstoke's coach Jeremy Spicer-Martinez last week represented England in the over 40s squad competing in the 2019 Master’s Indoor Hockey World Cup.

This is the second year he has competed for the team and they made it to the third and fourth play off against Australia, something they did not achieve last year.

Unfortunately, they did not quite achieve the bronze medal, however he’s already looking forward to next year.
