THE popular Chess family day returns to the Discovery Centre this Saturday February 16 from 10.30am to 12.30pm. All are welcome to attend from grand master to beginner.

In the various leagues the club have been generally recording good results.

The Berkshire League team recorded a 4-2 win against a strong Reading B side.

The Basingstoke points were gathered with wins from Steven Jones, Mike Singleton and Raja Pentakota plus draws from Liam Blanc and David Graham.

The Southampton League Division Two side remain amongst the leaders after a 4½ - ½ win at Andover A.

This was thanks to Jones, Blanc, Singleton and Pentakota plus a draw from Malcolm Cooper.

In the Borders League Division Three Basingstoke A beat Camberley C by 3½ to 1½ and remain amongst the Division leaders.

The points were recorded with wins from Jamie Chilton and Ewart Smith plus draws from Cooper, Barry Kocan and John Shaddick.

Basingstoke B went down to a narrow loss against Crowthorne C by 2½ to 1½ in Division Five.

Their points were scored by a Jamie Chilton win and a draw from Paul Vanlint.

The Division Seven side recorded a 2-2 draw with Crowthorne F with Peter Beldaus and Shwetal Bhatt notching wins.

The Basingstoke Individual Championship (Joe French Cup) has reached the quarter final stage.

Singleton beat Beldaus and Blanc won against Chilton.

The other two games will see Raja Pentakota face Steven Jones and Mo Negargar takes on David Graham.
