BASINGSTOKE Hockey Club Ladies fourth team maintained their unbeaten run in style with a 6-0 victory against Yateley.

Sharon Holden opened the scoring with a purposeful strike early in the game.

Shortly after, Ulrike Maier scored the second goal, with her signature dive.

Ella Boyd came close to securing a goal, however her rocket strike went wide and left her chewing the astro for her troubles.

Next on the scorecard was Ellie Rixon who pushed up high, and skipped around the defence to slot it in.

Trying out new set pieces paid off as Charlie Rixon, usually hiding out in defence was able to follow her sister’s suit and find a gap to the side of the goalkeeper to take Basingstoke into the break 4-0 up.

Yateley had bursts of attack, but were continually shut down by Basingstoke’s defence, with Katie Wade taking her only save in the first half.

In the second half, Basingstoke kept pressing, however tiredness set in and chances were missed.

Gemma Applegarth bundled one more home, whilst Maier took her second.

The third team started the year with a friendly against Yateley II and ran out as comfortable 3-0 winners with goals from Caroline Mackay, Nicola Burridge and Annette MacInnes.

The men's fifth team lost 8-0 to Petersfield, with man of the match going to Dave Cramer, whilst the thirds won 4-1 against Andover.
