THE Basingstoke Bison lost a penalty shoot-out in Streatham on Sunday night.

A very depleted home side took the lead thanks to a shorthanded goal from Alex Roberts in the eighth minute.

The same player then doubled their lead to make it 2-0 by the end of the first period.

The Herd hit back in the second session on the powerplay.

Ashley Tait netted assisted by Michal Klejna and man of the match Russ Cowley.

The Bison tied the game up in the third minute of the final period, as Liam Morris, back from suspension converted a pass from Richard Bordowski.

Streatham made it 3-2, three minutes later as Jacob Ranson scored, but another powerplay strike this time from Bordowski levelled the game with 10 minutes to go.

With no further scoring in this period or in overtime the game was decided by a shoot-out.

Roberts and Klejna failed to score the openers, before Adam Carr gave Streatham the lead.

After Tait and Andreas Siagris could not find the net, it was left to the Bison's Adam Harding to take the shoot-out into sudden death.

He scored and so with the Herd shooting first Klejna scored second time around and Carr netted to send it to another round.

This time, Streatham's man of the match Damien King denied Klejna and Carr made no mistake to ensure the win for the home side.

Next for the Bison is a home game against Bracknell on Saturday night (6.30pm).
