THE Strikers travelled to the Isle of Wight for a their first friendly game of the season against John’s Club FC.

They met up with John’s Club at the tournament in Andover in September and they invited them to travel across the Solent for a great day of football.

The funding for the trip to the Isle of Wight was made possible by the success of the tournament the Strikers held in August at the War Memorial Park, when teams from right across the south of England took part.

The Strikers took a squad of about 25 to take on theri counterparts

The whole event was just a friendly and a get together to mainly have fun and play some football.

During their time at Johns they played a number of games so all the players could get involved.

The scores of the matches did not matter it was more about enjoying playing football against a different opponents.

As well as all the games the home club also laid on refreshments for all the players from Basingstoke and the Isle of Wight club could not have been more hospitable.

They have invited John’s Club to Basingstoke to return the fixture which will be played hopefully later this season

A great day out was had by all at the club and many thanks should go to Nina Pitcairn-Hill for organising the trip and also Farnham Coaches for a smooth, safe journey both there and back to the Isle of Wight.
