YOUNG Basingstoke ice skater star Ava Mae Wilson, has qualified to compete at the upcoming British Figure Skating Championships, which are being held in Sheffield at the end of November this year
The10-year-old figure skater is one of a handful of athletes across the country to meet the stringent criteria required to compete at the Basic Novice level Competition.
She qualified to make her national debut with qualifying scores achieved by taking two top spot in two National competitions, the first was at Dundee in August and the second in Oxford last month.
Kempshott girl, Wilson, has skated at Basingstoke Ice Rink since the age of three.
She now trains up to 25 hours each week on ice with the support of her coaches, Stephanie Robson, Katie Bennett and David Lunn.
She is supported in her off-ice training by her dance school, Basingstoke Academy of Dance, and also by Basingstoke Gymnastics club.
Sherfield School which Wilson attends, continue to offer valued support and encouragement required to fulfil her potential in figure skating.
As a member of the Great Britain Development Squad and one of the youngest competitors at the event.
Wilson will make her debut at the British Championships along with the top skaters from right across the UK on November 26.
There she will be performing her ‘Greatest Showman’ routine, that includes a number of difficult jump and spin elements.
