THE Basingstoke Buffalo open their home South Two campaign with a visit from local rivals the Bracknell Hornets on Sunday (6.15pm).

The Buffs will be looking to build on their impressive start to the campaign which saw them win 4-3 away at the Cardiff Fire last Sunday.

The home side scored first from Tamas Elias in the sixth minute, but the visitors levelled, as Liam Coleman netted from Cam Buckle.

The second session saw Cardiff take the lead again from Elias, but the Buffs hit back as Coleman grabbed his second from Oscar Evans and Buckle to make it 2-2 at the second break.

The Buffalo then took the lead with Coleman's hat-trick strike, as he finished a move involving Buckle and Sam Dollin at 42:33.

Within a minute, Cardiff levelled from Sam Bryant, but the Buffs were not to be denied the win, as Mark Austen scored the game winner from Evans and Tom Banner.

The previous week, the under-18 Bison opened their campaign with a 6-1 win also over Cardiff.

Alexander Smith and Evans led the scoring with two goals each and there were single strikes for Jason Newman and Jack Peacock.

There were assists for Morgan Parsons, Tyton Cathcart, William Birch and Oliver Bower.
