THE pre-season friendly campaigns continued for Basingstoke Hockey Club.

Playing at home, the Ladies' first team were the much stronger team in their thrilling 5-0 win against Guildford firsts.

Emily Harris scored three goals and Roxy O’Dea and Fi Parker contributing to the tally by scoring one goal each.

The seconds lost 3-1 at home to Newbury firsts, with the Basingstoke goal coming from Judith Bird.

An entertaining friendly, saw the ladies thirds play exceptionally well in a 4-3 defeat against Camberley first.

With goals coming from Pip O’Sullivan, Jasmine Payne and Sarah Dunkley.

The fifths had an away game against Camberley III in their last friendly prior to the start of the season.

Despite good possession, winning lots of short corners, and most valuable player Lynne Wood scoring a goal in the second half, the game ended with a 2-1 win to Camberley.

Basingstoke Men’s first travelled to Haslemere for the Hampshire Cup first round tie.

A round robin tournament with four teams, with the winner going through to the quarter finals, with the remaining three going through to the trophy event.

Having lost the first game 2-1 to Hamble. Basingstoke found their form in the second game against US Portsmouth, winning 7-0, with Dave Stones, Mark Smith, Luke Beddoes, Dean Record, Danny Bowden all getting their names on the scoresheet.

The final game against league rivals Haslemere, ended in a 0-0 draw. Both teams had fantastic opportunities to win

Losing 5-0 away to Henley and conceding three goals from short corners.

So, onwards to the next game when they will have better availability in their squad and work towards a win.

The thirds played against Sonning IV this week.

Euan Rixson and Kyle McFee scored the winning goals, with the final score ending 2-0 to Basingstoke.

The fourths played Farnham sevens and drew 1-1 in an exciting evenly match game, with goals coming from Eliot Boyd and man of the match Matt Freddie.
