BASINGSTOKE's Toby Jackson has been selected in the first England Hockey's under-18 squad for this coming season.
There is one more selection session before the final squad.
Last weekend saw a number of the hockey teams start their pre-season campaigns.
The ladies first team won 5-2 away to Tulse Hill and Dulwich with goals coming from Fi Parker, Roxy O’Dea and Emily Harris, while the seconds lost 1-0 to Winchester II.
The ladies thirds played against Yateley II. With changes to the squad and absentees there were several new faces who fitted in well in a 3-0 win.
Katie Wade guested in goal and made several outstanding saves in a pleasing team performance which bodes well for the season ahead.
Having been recently promoted, the ladies fifth team, held their own against Hamble II, but lost 1-0 in an evenly match game.
The newly formed ladies seventh team started well with a 2-0 win again Hamble, with goals coming from Patricia Flynn and Kate Murphy.
In a thrilling match the men’s first won 2-0 against Maidenhead in a thrilling match.
