OAKLEY Cricket Club have enjoyed their best ever season with their first team returning a 100 per cent record in Hampshire County North Four to take the title and their second team who collected their best ever finish of fifth in Regional Division One North East.

The Oaks first season wrapped up a perfect campaign with five wicket success over visiting AWE Tadley.

The visitors were bowled out for 102 as Clive Welsman led the way with four wickets and there were three for Tom Barnes as well as one each for Alex Brundle and Brad Compton-Bearne.

Dan Sumner led the reply with another 50 and seemed to want to pepper the farmer's field with every shot.

a minor collapse saw the home side lose five wickets before Brundle and Sumner steered them home.

The Oaks second team travelled to Old Basing III and 50 from Steve Savage helped them to 165-8, as Mike Tiley (36) and Alan North (27) chipped in.

They then bowled out the home side for 133 as Rav Kancharia took three wickets.

Elsewhere in County Division Four North, runners-up Overton already promoted were beaten at Fair Oak III.

Basingstoke IV moved up to sixth after a four wicket win at Alton, as they scored 194-6.

Silchester (238-7) won at Old Basing II (205-9) as they finished ninth and 12th respectively.

Ashford Hill (152) at Wherwell (208-5) had to settle for 15th in the table.

Also in Regional One North East, Hook IV lost their winner takes all champions clash at Holybourne, but were still promoted as they finished second.

Kingsclere finished sixth after being bowled out for 93, as St Mary's won by seven wicket to claim 12th spot.

Odiham II (143) lost to St Cross IV (174) despite Sean Merriman (3-16) and Robert Frome 3-26, so came seventh.

Rotherwick ITW (109) lost by eight wickets at Hartley Wintney III, but still finished tenth, while Hartley were 15th.

Overton II (145) went down at Colden Common (159-8) and were relegated along with Sherfield (85), who were beaten at Ropley II by 102 runs.
