BASINGSTOKE Town enjoyed their biggest league win of the season with a 4-1 victory at Frome Town.

Visiting manager Jason Bristow made one change to the side which lost at home to Poole Town last weekend, with Jim Orvis coming in for Dan Collier.

The home side got off to an excellent start and took the lead after eight minutes.

Dean Stow and Sam Smart combined for Sam Argent to score and unlike last week against Poole, this time the goal counted.

Soon after, Smart was denied by a great save from James Carey on his Frome debut.

On the 18th minute mark, the visitors doubled their lead, as Shane Hollamby headed home a cross from Stow.

Just before the break, Basingstoke’s Colm McAdden was called into action to deny Dan Cottle.

Then right on the stroke of half time, the visitors were awarded a penalty, after Basingstoke captain Charlie Kennedy was felled in the box by Rickie Scott.

Stow converted from the spot for the second week running, as the Dragons took a 3-0 lead to the dressing room.

Just a minute, before the hour mark, Frome pulled themselves back into the contest, as Cottle scored with a superb 25-yard strike.

However, a minute later, Akers and Argent combined for Sam Deadfield to make it 4-1 and the game was over as a contest.

On Monday (3pm), the Dragons are back at the Camrose for a Hampshire derby clash with Gosport Borough.
