OAKLEY were crowned Hampshire County Four North champions after winning a One run thriller at Ashford Hill.

The visitors batted first and scored 183 thanks to a partnership of 76 between Alex Brundle and James Bayliss.

The home side in a tense finish were left needing three off the last ball to win, but only managed a single as they finished on 182-8.

Wickets for the Oaks were spread around between Brundle (2) Brad Compton-Bearne (2) Dan Sumner (2) and one each for Tom Barnes and Rob Wood, while Clive Welsman going for just 19 off nine overs was equally, if not more important.

Also promoted from the same Division last Saturday, were Overton after a five wicket win over visiting Rowledge.

The visitors were bowled out for 152 thanks to Andy Regan 3-16, Dan Johnson 3-17 and Lewis Watts 3-33. Henry Deacon top scored in Overton's reply with 75.

In County Two, Old Basing will clinch promotion if they can win at Portsmouth II.
