A BUMPER crowd was treated to a feast of big hitting, as Hampshire made their annual trip to Hartley Wintney.

The annual cricket game also raised over £20,000 for various charity as around 1,000 spectators made the most of the sunshine and surrounded the picturesque ground.

Head of the committee, organising the game Richard Sanders said: "It was a great day even if we had a little rain at the end. I must thank all the sponsors, players, spectators and all the committee as everything went to plan.

"Next year Hampshire will be here again and as a club we are gearing up for our 250th anniversary year which is in 2020."

The county stars were out in force for the game and also brought along their Royal London One Day Cup, which they won at Lord's last month.

As is the tradition, Hampshire batted first and James Vince set the tone of the innings, as he scored 24 in nine balls hitting three sixes.

Jimmy Adams batting at number seven top scored with 48, from 23 balls going one better than Vince with four sixes as well as four fours.

Other maximum hits came from Kyle Abbott (30), Nick Karamouzis (26), Ella Chandler (22), Tim Alsop (29) and Chris Wood (10) as they were all out for 231. Ben Earney helped himself to three wickets.

Hartley certainly gave their visitors a fright, as they finished just four runs short of victory.

Former skipper Danny Plume led the way with an excellent 81 from 69 balls, which included 15 fours and a six.

Jonny Kerr was the next best with an unbeaten 44, hitting seven fours and one six.

Angus Brown (25), Jonny Rowland (25) Will Kerr (120 and Jack Beckwith (11) all cleared the boundary ropes for the home side. Chandler and Abbott both took two wickets each.
