BASINGSTOKE masters swimmer Morris Dick won a hat-trick of gold medals at the Scottish National Short Course Masters Championships held at Tollcross International Centre in Glasgow.

Dick won the 50 metres, 100m and 200m breaststroke events in the men’s 75 to 79 age category.

The swimmer also set two new Scottish record on his way to a trio of victories in the 100m and 200m events.

Dick was born in Edinburgh on August 4 1942 and have joined the Orkney swimming Club to make sure he could qualify to take the Scottish records.

Last year, he swam and broke the records, but as a member of the Spencer team from England they are not recognised as Scottish records.

His triple success was a great way for Dick to sign off his career in the pool having learnt to swim the breaststroke in 1982.

It ends 35 years of swimming in Masters events which has taken him right across the globe winning World Masters medals as well as European and domestic titles.

He will continue to swim at the Aquadrome, but now just for pleasure.
