HARTLEY Wintney have added two players ahead of their debut season in the Southern League Premier South.

The newly promoted side have re-signed prolific goal scorer Ross Cook after a season away from the Row, with FA Vase winners Thatcham.

They have also a new face to their line-up for the forthcoming campaign, after signing Claudio Herbert from Salisbury.

Oakridge boy striker Cook joined Hartley for the season of 2015/16 and along with Sam Argent, now at Basingstoke Town, the pair scored a remarkable 92 goals between them in a first season together and they fired Hartley to the Combined Counties Premier League, which the pair did again the following season.

Hartley joint manager Anthony Millerick said: "We are delighted to have Ross back with us and he is really buzzing to be be back."

Talking about new face Herbert, Millerick added: "Coach Luke Tuffs has seen him play and number of the lads have played against and only had good things to say."

Midfielder Herbert made 27 appearances last season for Salisbury and scored seven times. He helped the Whites to their second promotion in three years after they finished second in the Southern League Division One West

Millerick added: "It is exciting times at the club and we are really looking forward to it. We have most of last season's squad back. I think they deserve to play at this level as they got us there. I am very much against going out and signing 10 new players, just because you have gone up a level."

Of course on the minus side, Dean Stow has joined the Row new divisional rivals Basingstoke Town and the extra travelling has seen James Tennant and Adam Everiss.both decide to leave Hartley

Everiss has joined Camberley Town.
