BASINGSTOKE and Hid Hants Athletics Club collected medals galore at the Hampshire Athletics Track and Field Championships.

In total the club took 81 athletes and they brought back a haul of 46 medals, as well as a host of personal best performances.

The weekend got off to a good start on Saturday with a stand out performance by Ben Pattison in the 200m, with a time of 22.02, putting up to second in the UK rankings.

The Under 20 women’s 400m was also notable, with a clean sweep for club athletes - Rebecca Bullock, Lydia Sommers and Amber Clare.

GB Juniors athlete, Mair Edwards won gold in the 100m (U20) for the fifth year running in her age group, with Ayomide Cole also winning in the 100m again.

On Sunday, the women’s 200m was a particular highlight with Cole winning another gold in the 200m, in a time of 25.53, putting her at number four in the UK in her first year as an Under 15, Izzy Pinder won silver.

The club had success in the two following races with Catherine Edwards adding to her gold from the 300m by winning silver in the Under 17 category just before her sister, Mair, won gold in the U20 age group.

Other winning performances were from James Beeks in the 1500m (Senior) as well as silver in the 800m, Harry Richardson won the 800m for the Under 20 men.

Emily Cornwall won gold in long jump and high jump as well as silver in the hurdles, Maddie Deadman in the 3000m (U20), Hannah Haugvik in the hurdles (U20).

Many athletes won medals in more than one event too, and many of the younger athletes competing in their first big event.
