BASINGSTOKE and North Hants seconds missed out on a chance of another victory as rain stopped their game at St Cross, just 22 balls into their run chase.

This was after the home side posted a total of 205-9 from their 50 overs and when the rain arrived in Winchester, the visitors were 25-0.

It looked like St Cross would set a much bigger total against the Bountymen, when former Hampshire man Jason Laney (24) and Paul Hawkins (55) put on 64 for the first wicket.

Hawkins and David Orchard (41) added more runs and at 127-2, a big score looked on the card.

However, the visiting bowlers hit back as Rakitha Perera led the way with 3-39 being well supported by Keith Harris (2-40) and Matt Thankachan (2-54).

This coming Saturday, the seconds are at home to Paultons
