BASINGSTOKE Hockey Club men’s fourth team only needed a draw to secure promotion and set the pace in their game against Camberley and Farnborough.

After a well worked attack, Kyle McFee found the back of the net to strike first and the same player netted a second before the break.

Basingstoke commanded the second half, and McFee secured the hat-trick he had been after all season.

The second team guaranteed promotion to Division One after a 3-0 win over the Isle Of Wight. Dan Holding opened the scoring with a backfoot wonder strike.

Liam Harrison followed suit early in the second half and Holding got his second to seal the game.

The first team started started brightly against Fareham, creating good chances and would have had an early lead but for the agile Fareham goalkeeper.

Fareham barely threatened through the first half.

After the break the men in red kept creating significant chances but lacked the coolness of the weather conditions to make the right decisions when it counted.

With rare opportunities Fareham took their chance at a penalty corner to take the lead.

With five minutes remaining Basingstoke subbed their goalkeeper to add another outfield player but couldn’t secure even a point, losing 1-0.

Bournemouth hosted The thirds won in Bournemouth 2-1, as they came back from a goal down.

Basingstoke regrouped and started to create more chances with Dilan Saujani and JP Vout working the Bournemouth defence to create a nice opening for Harry Cave to neatly finish.

The visitors scored the winner in the final 10 minutes from Jez Smith’s penalty corner.

The fifths were 2-1 winners against Petersfield, thanks to a Jake Wilcox brace.

The Vikings beat Aldershot and Farnham 2-1, as Sion Turian and Ross Cavalier scored.
