LODDON Vale inflicted the first defeat in 20 friendly matches for Egham as they beat them 127-121, writes Marjorie Craze.

Loddon's top rink was Sue Harris, Mavis Guest, Ian Gourlay and Alan Phillips.

The following day in another friendly encounter they lost 126-90 to Riverside with the losers top rink being Maryann Chadwick, Stella Regan-Atkins, Adrian Bush and Tony Miller.

It was the semi finals of the club's men's competition this week. In the singles it was a win for Duncan Rogers and Gary Lovett. In the pairs wins for Rogers/Trevor Morgan, and Geraint Jones/Gary Lovett booked their places in the finals. There were triples wins for Alan Tait/Alan Mitchell/Geoff Green, as well as Jones/Dougie Morgan/Trevor Morgan. The Over 60's triples final will be between Dave Rice/Geoff Green/Dougie Morgan up against Jim Rainbow/John Holmes/Alan Smith. In the Club 4's semis there were wins for Rogers/Rice/Steve Shaw/Trevor Morgan and Tait/Dave Holmes/Mitchell/Green. The finals will be played in mid April.

Hampshire Ladies face Sussex in the quarter finals of the inter county competition at Chawton Park on Saturday. Five of the 24 team members are from Loddon Vale.

Loddon Vale has an Open Day every Wednesday from noon until 2pm and 4.30pm to6.30pm. Anyone who wants to try the game is welcome to come along and give it a go.
