NATHAN Rae and Louis McCann both hit hat-tricks as Overton United beat Chineham Athletic 16-0 to move four clear at the top of the Basingstoke and District Sunday League Division Two, writes TONY SPENCER.

Also on target for Overton were Kieron Fuller, Scott Winterbourne, Ryan Watts and Gavin Alexander all with braces, with Matthew Lowe and sub Luke Skinner getting one apiece.

Non scorers with assists were Ritchie Budd and Craig Ralph with two each, while Ash Shearing set up four goals.

The Sunday programme was hit hard by the weather, with only two local matches being played, plus a cup game down at Waterlooville. Curiously, a Chineham side was involved in all three games.

The Division One match between Republic of Chineham and Chineham looked like the points would be shared until the 93rd minute, as Republic‘s George Jones fired in the winner from a 30-yard free-kick, to move them nine points clear at the top, but Oakley do have three games in hand.

In the Hampshire Sunday Junior A Cup Chineham Reserves travelled to Meon Valley Sunday League leaders Denmead and lost 4-1.
