THE Junior Bison ice hockey team are holding a tea party in aid of St Michael’s Hospice.
There will be tea and cake available for purchase in aid of the palliative care charity.
Marie-Louise Chandler, who is organising the event, said; “We have been supporting the Hospice for about years, working with them on Bison nights to collect monies and holding cake sales to raise monies too.
“The Hospice has touched quite a few families now within our Ice Hockey community. With loved ones spending their last few weeks or days in this amazing place with their even more amazing staff. Staff who have helped the families afterwards including the children to come to terms with their grief.
“It has become a charity that we hold very dear to our hearts and we would like to try and give back what we can.”
There is also a more personal reason for the choice of charity. Marie-Louise continued: “My story is of my mum-in-law Sandra, who passed away two and a half years ago after battling with cancer for five long years. Sandra spent her last few weeks at St Michael's Hospice in-patient unit where she received first class palliative care from a remarkable team of professionals and volunteers.”
St Michael's Hospice services are provided free of charge to patients and families, tailored to reflect the individual needs of each patient.
The event will be taking place from 5:30pm before training on Monday 11 September and Wednesday 13 September at Planet Ice Basingstoke.
