HARTLEY Wintney’s promotion hopes were dented as they lost by nine wickets at Langley Manor.

This was the village side’s first away loss of the season and saw them slip from second to fourth in the Southern League Division Two table.

Hartley won the toss and elected to bat and were bowled out for 100.

They never recovered after a poor start which saw Henry Collier and skipper Danny Plume both back in the pavilion with just three on the board.

Opener Will Kerr was the third man out with only 20 scored, before top scorer Danny Flanders (31) and Daniel Bowles (19) put on 41 for the fourth wicket.

However, Hartley then suffered a middle order collapse as they went from 61-4 to 78-8, as Christopher Thomason (3-17) did most of the damage.

Ben Hyde (14) then became only the third player to reach double figures, as the visitors were all out for 100.

Hartley got off to the best possible start with the ball, as Dan Reynoldo removed opener Azeem Hamid with just one scored.

Unfortunately, this was as good as it got for the visitors, as Saulieg Rayned (52) and Connor Browne (42) shared an unbroken second wicket stand worth 100, as Langley reached their total after 13.1 overs.

Hartley are on their travels again next weekend to OTs and Romsey to face a side who could include Hampshire limited over star Chris Wood.
