ODIHAM tennis ace Ryan Golesworthy was in good form at the Grade 3 David Lloyd Raynes Park tennis tournament winning two doubles tournaments.

Golesworthy took part in the under-16s doubles with training partner Callum Rendle.

Both boys are the current under-16 county champions for Hampshire and Berkshire respectively.

They won their first match against Chett and Lemuel Cassidy 4-1, 4-1. The semi-final against Surrey players, David Middleton and Krisnaa Muhunthakumar saw a 4-2, 4-0 success.

In the final against Kristofer Johnson and Mark Miscevic, Golesworthy and Rendle came out with a clear plan, showing keen use of strategy and placement.

They dictated play with everything falling into place and won the title 4-0, 4-0.

Playing up an age group, Golesworthy entered the under-18s doubles tournament with Nathan Fernandes.

Their match against Finlay McFadyen and Krishan Taneja was thoroughly entertaining.

McFadyen and Taneja were on the back foot in the first set but battled back in the second.

Golesworthy and Fernandes grabbed the crucial second set tie-break to win the match 4-1, 5-4.

The semi-final against Jorge Beltrao and Vraj Patel was toughly contested. After trading sets, the match really took off in the third set tie-break.

They exchanged rapid-fire points at the net and fine forehands that exploited the corners of the court.

The match ended with Golesworthy and Fernandes winning, 4-1, 0-4, 10-8.

The final against Jamie Crowfoot and Yoan Roussinov started with an extremely competitive first set.

In the second set, Golesworthy and Fernandes gained momentum and won 5-3, 4-1 to secure the victory and the title.

Golesworthy has been selected to represent Hampshire under-18 boys team at the County Cup event being held at Taunton Tennis Centre at the end of this month.

Hampshire will be playing against other top teams from South Wales, Nottinghamshire and Lancashire.
