BASINGSTOKE RFC bounced back to winning ways, as they beat visiting Millbrook 38-24 in London Three South West.

They also moved to just three points behind third placed Old Cranleighans, who lost at home to Trojans.

Stoke dominated the first 40 minutes of the contest at Down Grange against their Hampshire rivals, as by the break they had the bonus point try in the bag.

Jonty Newton scored the opener whch was converted by Dave Byett and then Matt Guilfoyle made it 12-0.

A brace of tries from Dave Lambert, with both extras added by Byett moved the score to 26 without reply.

The visitors then opened their account, but at the break Stoke led 26-7.

The second half started with Warren Simmons scoring, but then the visitors hit back with a brace of tries to cut the lead to 14 points.

Lambert, with his hat-trick try, which was converted by Byett, made it 38-17 with Millbrook going over for the last score in the game to complete the scoreline.

Next up for Stoke is a trip to lowly Bognor on Saturday, ahead of their home league and cup double game at home to Trojans a week later.
