Looking for a new way to keep fit in the New Year?

O2 touch rugby returns to Basingstoke RFC for 2017.

Touch rugby is the fun, non-contact version of rugby played by anyone from 15 years old and over regardless of experience from complete beginner to former players both male and female.

The sessions run weekly every Monday evening from 6.30pm to 8pm and it is free and a fantastic way to socialise, exercise and have fun. They meet at the Rugby Clubhouse, Pack Lane.

Basingstoke RFC have been running sessions for the last three years and continue to see it go from strength to strength.

Last year saw the first Summer Touch League and the formation of the BRFC Flames who will compete in festivals and tournaments during 2017 for those that wish to play at a competitive standard.

Community Rugby Coach Geraint Cooper who leads the sessions said: “Touch is a great way to keep fit and to have some fun. The best thing about it is that anyone can play and not worry about the physical side of rugby.

"It’s a really positive programme to enable anyone to get back into playing the game or try it for the first time. I’d definitely encourage people to pitch up to play.

"Basingstoke RFC has a number of options for people to play touch just for fun or those that want to take it a little more seriously.”

If anyone is interested people turn up on Monday or contact Geraint Cooper for further information on crc@basingstokerfc.com
