REIGNING league champions the Basingstoke Bison will look to get themselves into the English Premier League title race, as they face the top two this weekend.

The fourth placed Herd entertain the Milton Keynes Lightning, who are second on Saturday (6.30pm), before making a trip to league leaders the Telford Tigers on Sunday (6pm).

The Bison who have only lost twice in their last 13 games, enjoying a goal feast last weekend as they scored 16 times.

The Lightning have already lost in Basingstoke last month and the Bison will welcome back British forward Matt Towalski, after he missed both of last weekend’s games.

Sunday’s opponents Telford have been making the headlines for all the wrong reasons this week, as the club faces liquidation, but the game is expected to go ahead.

Casting his eye over a tough double header Bison head coach Doug Sheppard said: “This is a massive weekend for us against two of the top sides.

“If we win both, we are back in the race to defend our title. We lose both and we fall further behind.”
