TEN was the magic number for the Bison on Saturday night, as they chalked up their tenth straight home win with a 10-2 victory over their visiting arch rivals the Bracknell Bees.

The result also saw the Herd return back to the top of the English Premier League and book their place in the semi-final of the EPL Cup.

The home side minus defenceman Alex Symonds opened the scoring in the third minute, as Kurt Reynolds’ shot came back off the pads of Tom Annetts and man of the match Alan Lack buried the rebound.

The Bees equalised in a bizarre fashion as Bison goalie Tomas Hiadlovsky went to clear the puck, but instead it hit Scott Spearing and left the Bees’ player with a simple tap in.

This set back was short lived for the Bison as by the first buzzer they led 4-1and were well in control.

The home side’s second goal, came from Tomas Karpov following a defence splitting pass from Miroslav Vantroba.

Then two powerplay goals followed, the first saw Shaun Thompson net from close range and then Ryan Watt poked the puck home by the post for the other.

The second session, saw Lack skate out of the sin bin and fire in a shot which came off the pads of the netminder and Ciaran Long converted the rebound.

Soon after, Aaron Connolly burst into the end zone and made it 6-1 and at this point the Bees swapped their goalies and Alex Mettam took over.

He did alright to start with, but then conceded four goals in the final 20 minutes.

The first came from Lack after good spade work from Karpov and then Ryan Sutton picked up his first point for the Bison, with an assist on goal eight, scored by Joe Greener.

At this point, the Herd swapped their netminders as Dan Weller-Evans made his home league debut and kept the Bees out until 50:13, when Jan Bendik scored with a blue line shot on the powerplay.

A few minutes later, Bees import Frankie Bakrlik fired the puck at the home goalie after the whistle had blown. This is one of the deadly sins in ice hockey and Joe Greener made him pay for the error of his ways.

As the pair headed to the sin bin another short fight broke out as Watt quickly knocked down David Savage.

Once the dust had settled and the Bison killed the resulting powerplay, the Herd added two more goals to their tally.

Thompson made the most of a loose puck and then Lewis Turner’s giveaway saw Lack complete his hat-trick.

The Bees defenceman took his anger out after the last goal by smashing his stick over the crossbar which earned him a 10 minute misconduct penalty.

Tonight, the Bison look to complete a four point weekend as they make their first trip of the season to the Hull Pirates.
