WILLIAM Birch scored twice in the space of four seconds as the Basingstoke under-15 Bison beat visiting Streatham 5-2 to extend their lead at the top of South Two.
The home side scored the only goal of the first session on the powerplay as Lucas Swierc played the puck back to Alfie Webb on the blue line and his great pass to defensive partner saw Oliver Bower fire home.
Just 30 seconds into the second period the lead was doubled as Thomas Banner's shot was blocked and Birch picked up the rebound and found Cain Russell to score.
Birch then turned provider for the third goal as Travis Penny scored and then Birch scored his quick fire brace to make it 5-0 at 27:55.
The London side pulled a couple of goals back by the end of the contest as they beat Bison man of the match Sam Childs. CJ Norris was the Herd's spirit of the game winner.
They are next in action on November 21 when they have a trip to Swindon.
