WHITCHURCH United's slow start to the season continued as they were beaten 2-0 by visiting Verwood Town on Saturday.
Mid-table Verwood opened the scoring after just four minutes and while Whitchurch pressed, they were unable to find an equaliser, with the visitors making the points safe in injury-time at the end of the game.
The result leaves the Jam Boys, who spent last season near the top of the Wessex League Premier Division, 19th in the table with six points from eight games.
However, they will be confident of adding more points to their tally on Saturday, when they travel to bottom-of-the-table Bournemouth Poppies.
