BASINGSTOKE cheerleading club Rising Phoenix enjoyed success in their first competition of the season.

The club attended the Future Cheer’s Adventure in Atlantis competition in Loughborough.

They took 10 athletes and came back with two trophies after their teams in the Senior Group Stunts category finished third and fourth.

Ignite came third in the Senior Level Three Group Stunt section and Rage were fourth in the Senior Level Two Group Stunt.

Amanda Stait, Programme Director of Rising Phoenix, said: “We were incredibly proud of their achievements in what was a milestone weekend, as the teams have only been being together for three months. We feel that we are certainly set for a bright future as the queens of fire.”

Before taking part in their first competition, members of the club as young as four performed at the Anvil as part of Spotlight’s Ray of Hope fundraiser.

The club meet at the Aldworth School and are also providing after school classes at both Aldworth School and Cranbourne Business and Enterprise College in association with the PE departments.
