MARK Williamson's heroics with both bat and ball were all in vain as high-flying Ashford Hill were beaten by Sherfield-on-Loddon in Hampshire Cricket League Regional Division One North.

The all-rounder hit almost half of his side's runs, making 98 in a total of 208, with Sherfield's Simon Grant taking 5-18.

Left-arm seamer Williamson then took 5-43 with the ball, but it was the visitors who won the game, getting over the line for the loss of eight wickets.

Basingstoke and North Hants IV sit fourth after winning by four wickets away at Littleton and West Hill. Grant Jones took 4-30 as the hosts were restricted to 157-8, while Jack Lake saw Basingstoke home with an unbeaten 56.

Odiham and Greywell are just below them after thrashing hosts Holybourne by 121 runs. Philip Thomas made 68 and Chris Turner 50 in Odiham's 202, while the home side were skittled out for just 81, with Ross McGaughrin taking 5-25 and Tom Wiltshire 3-23.

Kingsclere lost by 53 runs away at Old Alresford. Paul Gundry took 4-63, but Alresford made 231-6 and while Steve Hannay made 65, the visitors could only muster 178 in reply.

Ramsdell were bowled out for 134 chasing Medstead's 177-8, Old Basing II were unable to defend their total of 119, losing by six wickets away at St Mary Bourne, while Herriard were dismissed for 121 chasing 176-9 at Tichborne Park II.

David Hiscock hit an unbeaten century as Odiham and Greywell II crushed visiting Silchester in Division Two North.

Hiscock ended the innings on 120 and Liam Schooling made 64 as Odiham reached 260-2 and Silchester were bowled out for 137, with Kyran Munt and Thomas Spreadborough both taking three wickets.

Old Basing III beat local rivals Hook and Newnham Basics by 49 runs. Arjun Miriyala hit 65 in Basing's total of 184-8, while Sirva Piriam took 5-28 as Hook ended their innings on 135-9.

Rotherwick ITW suffered a heavy defeat at Penton, being bowled out for 137 chasing 278-8.

St Mary's recorded a comprehensive 10-wicket victory over visiting Holybourne II in Division Three North East.

Dan Vickery (4-21) and Keith Waldock (3-5) did a lot of the damage as Holybourne were bowled out for just 80, a total that St Mary's reached without loss, Tom Lee hitting an unbeaten 55.

Oakley II remain top of the pile after a seven-wicket win away at Odiham and Greywell III. Graham Barnes took 3-10 as Odiham were dismissed for 113 batting first.

Basingstoke and North Hants V youngster George Metzger made an impressive 68, but could not help his side to victory. They were bowled out for 120 chasing visiting Bishops Waltham III's total of 224-4.

Matthew Brown hit an unbeaten 52 as Hartley Wintney III reached 140-7 at home to Aldershot IV, but the visitors got the required runs to win by eight wickets.

AWE Tadley II lost at home to Easton and Martyr Worthy II, being bowled out for 133 chasing 213-5, while Overton III were unable to raise a team for their trip to Fair Oak IV.

Overton II did manage to get a team out, moving up to fourth in Division Three North West with a eight-wicket win at IBM Hursley. Andy Gould took 6-16 as the hosts were dismissed for 66 and Overton lost just two wickets on their way to victory.

Barry Monger produced a devastating spell of bowling as Ashford Hill II beat Division Four North leaders Ramsdell II by 78 runs.

Dan Hyland hit 86 as visiting Ashford Hill reached 181-8, with Mark Morley and Russell Cook both taking three wickets for Ramsdell. However, Monger then took 7-22 as the Ramsdell reply ended with the score on 92.
