ROB Collard just missed out on his second podium of this British Touring Car Championship season when he came fourth, after an eventful final race at Donington.

The Hook driver led in the early stages and then slotted into second spot behind Josh Cook.

However, on lap seven a crash between Jack Goff and Sam Tordoff forced a safety car and the gap the first two had built up was gone.

From the re-start the charging Aron Smith passed Collard and then as he diced with leader Cook the two went off the track.

Smith just missed the Hook driver as he returned to the circuit as Collard returned to the front with two laps left, but in the end had to settle for fourth spot.

Earlier in the day, Collard fought his way up from 19th after a poor qualifying to eighth place in the first race and then finished sixth in race two.

Three solid point finishes saw Collard move up to seventh in the championship which is 22 points behind leader Matt Neal.
