BASINGSTOKE Town Ladies left it late to reach the final of the Southern League Chairman’s Cup, scoring three goals in the final 15 minutes of their last-four tie against Parley Sports Ladies on Sunday.

Charlie Fry, Katie Randell, Josette Pearmine and Tracy Jones all went close for Town in the first half, but there were also chances at the other end, with goalkeeper Erin Davis making one particularly good save.

Visiting Parley were inches away from opening the scoring on 65 minutes, the ball hitting the post, while Davis had to pull off another good save to prevent her side going behind soon afterwards.

The deadlock was finally broken on 75 minutes, Lindsay Beverley beating the Parley goalkeeper with a low shot from 25 yards, and Jones doubled the lead three minutes later, converting Lianne Hill’s cross.

Jones got her second of the game on 80 minutes, scoring from another Hill cross to make it three goals in six minutes for the hosts, who saw the remaining time out to set up a final against Fleet Town Ladies at Camberley Town’s Krooner Park on May 17.

Town Ladies return to Premier Division action on Sunday. They sit second in the table ahead of a visit from leaders Maidenhead United Ladies.
