LAST weekend’s defeat to Wealdstone was a very disappointing result.

The players were very disappointed and frustrated after the game and will be looking to rectify things this weekend. We have two games in quick succession and if we can get two positive results it will leave us in a very strong position.

A few players came in for a bit of criticism after last week. People are welcome to their opinions, but I think that some of it was a bit harsh.

Stuart Moore and Liam Enver-Marum took the brunt of the criticism. They will take this on the chin, but they were our match-winners the previous week, with Liam getting the goal that beat Whitehawk and Stuart making a fantastic save.

The squad as a whole has been excellent all season and have performed to a consistently high level. Even players at the top level have days when they are not at the top of their game every single game.

We let ourselves down in both penalty boxes. We were disappointed to concede four goals in the manner we did, but we also feel that we could have got something from the game if we had taken our chances.

I am very proud of the players and know that not one would go onto the pitch and underperform on purpose. The team have given us some fantastic highs this season and they will be giving their all to provide us with some more of those moments.

Last week, the Academy had a great 5-1 win against Oxford United. George Hallahan got a hat-trick, with singles from Perry Tessier-Hunt and Ben Blackwell completing the impressive scoreline.

Hallahan scored two more goals on Monday, but the team lost 4-2 to Oxford City, a result that leaves them sixth in the table heading into their Easter break.
