RUGBY Club have been crowned champions of the Basingstoke Tuesday Darts League.

In a tense finish to the campaign, Rugby Club came out on top, just ahead of Oakridge GB and Soldiers Elite.

Bramley Inn’s Lee Berridge collected the highest checkout award in the division with a very impressive 140, while Roy Brown of Oakridge hit the most 180s (10).

Brown also enjoyed success in the Division One Doubles competition with Graham Hardy as they beat Soldiers Elite pair Ryan Hicks and Lee Pattison in the final.

The singles crown for the top division went to Dave Hewlett from Oakridge, with Rugby Club’s Rob Carr the runner-up.

Winkle B won the Division Two crown and will be promoted along with the Wote Street Wobblers.

Sherfield White Hart player James Hudson enjoyed a double in the division’s singles and pairs events.

Hudson saw off Wote Street Wobblers’ Dave Morley to take the singles crown and then, along with Rob Stewart, won the doubles title as they beat Lamb’s Chris Diamond and Paul Tidywells.

The highest checkout in Division Two was 130, hit by Rich Frisby (Winkle B) and Vic Farr (Sherfield WH).

Six players hit 180 twice in the campaign – Gary Oliver (Academy), Paul Turner (Railway Rebels), Dave Lucas (Railway Rebels), Paul Bedford (New Inn Sinners), Frisby (Winkle B) and Stewart (Sherfield WH).

The Division Three crown was won by Academy Imports and they will be joined in Division Two by the Westside Club.

The highest checkout in this division was 148 from Great Western’s Sam Underwood.

Only one player hit a maximum – Daryll Hogan from Academy Dart Vaders, who did it twice.

Hogan teamed up with Tom Compton to win the doubles title for Division Three as they beat John Randall and Mark Mahoney from Academy Imports.

Westside’s Lewis Turner took the singles crown with a victory over Academy Dart Vaders’ Chris Prestleton.

The summer season starts on Tuesday, April 14.
